This definitely has spoilers, so if you haven't seen season 3 of torchwood just leave right now.

I have very mixed thoughts on this season.  Part of me thinks that this is some of the best television I've ever seen.  It was suspenseful, and often disturbing, with the right amount of levity thrown in to make it bearable to watch.  There were no useless moments... everything seemed to have a purpose.  The acting was brilliant from all, especially Barrowman and the man who played Forister.  RDJ didn't follow the standard rules of sci-fi shows: Don't kill children, and REALLY don't kill children.  The two hardest parts of this season were Forister shooting his kids (especially knowing that in the end they would have been fine), and Jack allowing his grandson to die.  But to me at least, they were also some of the best parts of the show, acting and writing wise.  I liked that they didn't do the standard, 'oh I just thought of a way were no one has to get hurt.'  Jack did what he had to do.  Even Ianto dying...I'm still sad but I liked the way they handled that.  I really saw how important Ianto was to Jack.

If this had been the first season, I would be very happy.  I do feel somewhat betrayed... after all, torchwood was never a very serious sci-fi show.  It was fun, and it had a gay couple, and they shot things.  I loved it, and I knew what it was and what it wasn't.  This season was not what I was used to, but maybe I'll change my mind over time.  It was still pretty amazing.

Title: There Are Many Things That I Would Like To Say To You
Characters: Charlie, Liam, Karen, Simon Pace, OC
Warnings: Mentions of drug use.
Rating: PG-13
Pairings: Charlie/OC, implied Charlie/Claire
Summary: For Queen [info]toestastegood, Charlie reflects on the goodbyes he never said.

He’d told them that he loved them, and he could go knowing that the right words had been said
